Q1: You use one specific analytics service to check channels, but it does not display any mentions if invite links were used in the promoted post. Often you will decline such channels with the mark “suspicious activity”. How to act in this situation?

A1: Quality channels in the Telega.io catalog meet the common interests of all users. Therefore, we pay considerable attention to the moderation of each channel.

We work using all available analytics tools, not just those mentioned above. That’s why the wording “suspicious activity” is collective and means that the channel has various signs of possible cheating.

Of course, improving the moderation process is an ongoing challenge facing our team. We are trying to build a transparent and understandable channel verification system in the gradually changing Telegram ecosystem. Believe me, it’s not easy! But your support and feedback help speed up the process.

Flip channels

Q2: We know that channel owners convert non-English channels into English ones in order to quickly enter the foreign market.

It is pretty simple. The channel owner takes a small non-English channel, fills it with English-language posts, and launches advertising. As soon as 80-90% of the audience attracted from advertising is English-speaking, the channel owner submits the channel to you for moderation. Often you decline these channels. Do you plan to continuos banning these channels?

A2: We remain strongly committed to the basic principles of quality and relevance for any Telegram channels added to the system.

Therefore, we have a negative attitude towards the practice of changing the channel from any other language to English or changing the topic of the channel with the only goal of selling the ads at a higher price.

Please note that this practice may be the basis for blocking the channel. Our unchanging goal and ideal is mutually beneficial cooperation between advertisers and channel owners. It is important for advertisers to understand that in our catalog they will find channels with a language or topic-relevant audience.

Therefore, Telega.io recognizes this practice as completely incorrect and misleading for advertisers.

Deleting cheating channels

Q3: How often do you check and delete cheated channels? If I’ve got information that some of the channels have cheated with the views, followers, etc. when those ones will be checked and banned?

A3: We regularly check the quality of channels already added to the catalog. Such checks are performed both in automatic and manual modes.

We are always open to receiving additional information about such channels. This helps to prioritize the constant process of verification.

At the same time, we ask for understanding that the verification of any channel is carried out according to a combination of factors. Therefore, the result of the audit will be based not only on the fact of filing a complaint.

Q4: Do you ban channel owners for cheating ratings in the catalog?

A4: Once again, we will clarify our position – ANY cheating is FORBIDDEN. Any cheating can be the basis for blocking both the channel and the account. The ideals we believe in are openness and trust.

At the same time, we analyze any ambiguous situations on an individual basis. Whenever possible, we try to meet the channel owners halfway who have made the first minor mistake.

Rating update

Q5: There are channels that sell a lot of cheap ads every day. And there are channels with a quality audience that are rarely sold, but expensive. In your current rank, channels receive the same rank for each completed order. In such a system, channels with high-quality content lose their motivation to participate in your rating.

A5: We fully agree with you that the rating system needs to be improved. These edits are already in the backlog and will be implemented during the spring. We believe that over the long term if we keep trying to do what’s right and delivering experiences that improve channel owners’ works, it will be better for the Telegram community and our platform.
